As reported earlier, I covered the whole SA WSBK weekend from 15-17 May 2009 @ Kyalami GP circuit.

I was once again amazed at the speeds and laptimes these guys achieved. To give you an idea, the fastest lap on Superpole 3 was by Ben Spies on his no 19 Yamaha YZF R1 at a staggering 1′37.288 followed by Michel Fabrizio on his Ducati 1098R second only by 1/1000th of a second with a time of 1′37.289. South Africa’s own Shez Morais,qualified 11th place, 3rd row with a qualifying time of 1′38.013 in superpole 2, where he missed superpole 3 by 3 spots - well done to “The Shez Show” for qualifying his no 132 Factory Kawasaki ZX 10R in front of big names like Xaus, Kagayama and Kiyonari!

Ben Spies took Superpole in all 6 events this year, but he was not to win a race @ kyalami this time round, Nori made sure of that.  With Noriyuki Haga taking a double win @ Kyalami, the rest of the podium was made up of Fabrizio and Spies for Race 1 and Fabrizio and Rea for Race 2.

After a long 5 months since I covered the WSBK Pirelli Testing Session at Kyalami in December last year, its finally time for the official race day. From 15-17 May 2009 WSBK will be in South Africa fighting it out on the Kyalami Grand Prix circuit after an absence of 7 years. The track has had some changes and it will be interesting to see what happens in the “bus stop” where the chicane was altered since the testing in December.

Mx2Photography is also one of the sponsors of Lourens Strydom #147 on his Telebuild zx10r riding in the local 1000 class with some of the countries top riders in the Superbike series. The Local 1000’s and 600’s will be riding inbetween the WSBK heat’s.

Na vele afwagting het die manne van Wolraad hulle eerste offisiële verkyning gemaak. Na minder afwagting het ek uiteindelik tyd gekry om daaroor te blog.

Anyway, daar is iets omtrent hulle approach tot die musiek wereld en die fans daar buite wat my laat dink het dat hierdie nie net sommer nog een van daai garage tipe bands is nie. Die line-up van goeie proven muso’s het definitief die nuuskierigheid in die Pretoria se alternatiewe kringe wakker gemaak. Hulle het skynbaar iets reg gedoen want hulle facebook groep het so vinnig gegroei en was byna by 800 lede voordat enige iemand nog die musiek gehoor het.  Die manne het vroeg in 2009 bymekaar gekom en die liedjies begin aanmekaar slaan. Daar is selfs ‘n Koos du Plessis liedjie wat deurgeloop het onder die manne se skrywery. Na weke se harde rehearsal op die plot is die Ep opgeneem by Jp de Stefani van B# Studios, wat al menigte eersteklas SA bands gerecord het, soos Van Coke Kartel, Aking, Kidofdoom, Sugardrive, en natuurlik die Karre! Mx2Photography is genader vir promo shoots en cd cover foto’s. Die cover design is gedoen deur Geline van GRO Media. Klank en beligting vir die launch is gedoen deur Jan van J-Sound Productions. Hulle het all-out gegaan en hierdie vyf ouens het duidelik een ding op die brein en dit is Rewolusie!

Ek het ‘n paar van die practice sessions bygewoon, en ek is bly om te sê dat daar nog baie kreatiwiteit, lus en ywer in daai manne steek wat nog ontgun moet word. Ek like ook die feit dat hulle nie soos ander bands klink nie, en hulle hulle eie identiteit aan die gang het.  Hulle beplan tans aan die eerste video, en ek glo die vollengte album is nie ver agter nie. Toere word ook beplan en hulle is klaar geboek vir die musiekfees FORR in Ponta Malongane, Mocambique in September

A midweek, 3day,  World SBK Official testing session is currently underway at Kyalami, one of South Africa’s internationally approved race tracks. This testing is being held in prepearation for next years South African round of the SBK World Championship to be held on 17 May 2009. Drivers to be seen there include Troy Corser, Max Biaggi and Noriyuki Haga… Mx2Photography will be there capturing some shots of these icons.
